Garden of Venus, Chapter II

Garden of Venus, Chapter II

Itinerant interactive exhibition, part of an installation
Atrium House
Bucharest, Romania
24 - 26.02.2026
Curatorial Vision and Graphic Identity: Cristina & Magda Staicut

Presented close to the celebration of Dragobete, the second chapter of the travelling exhibition The Garden of Venus continued the artistic journey begun at Orhideea Towers, reaffirming the same invitation extended to the public: to step into a symbolic garden where abstract painting, light and participation come together to create a collective experience.

Hosted in one of the landmark spaces managed by Europolis Real Estate Management, the exhibition brought together eleven works created in tempera and 24-carat pure gold leaf. Through them, painterly matter and the radiance of gold entered into a dialogue about fragility, hope and permanence. Green remained the colour of beginnings and renewal, red expressed love with sincerity, while gold transformed emotion into a luminous presence suspended between memory and time.

The participatory installation remained the conceptual core of the project. Visitors were invited to complete the garden by placing stickers on the floor, each one made to the size of a standard sheet of pure gold leaf and reproduced from details and sections of paintings by Cristina and Magda Stăicuț. The seemingly simple gesture of applying a single image fragment became the equivalent of an artistic intervention, with each participant contributing to the creation of a work in a constant state of becoming.

Through the accumulation of these fragments, the installation evolved into a collective canvas, while the space itself became a Venusian garden shaped by encounters between people. Each new presence subtly altered the composition, demonstrating that a contemporary artwork can continue to exist beyond the studio and beyond the moment of exhibition, through the living relationship between artist and audience.

Presented between Valentine’s Day and Dragobete, the two chapters of the exhibition together created an itinerary dedicated to love as a universal experience. Two spaces, the same garden. Two symbolic moments united by the same invitation: to transform contemplation into participation and the viewer into a co-author.

The Garden of Venus affirms that love does not begin with a declaration, but with the space in which it becomes possible.

“We did not tell the love story. We created the Venusian garden where lovers met.” – Cristina & Magda Stăicuț
