As part of the IBA Mid-Year Meetings 2024 and Bar Leaders Conference, held in Bucharest in May 2024 for the first time and organized by the Bucharest Bar Association, we had the privilege of transforming the foyer of the Ballroom at the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest into a space of ultra-contemporary art and a welcoming setting for the Gala guests.
A mini gallery of Romanian art: 16 abstract artworks featuring Pure Gold leaf created a universe of abstracted symbols – a world in red, blue, violet, green and black, where matte, velvety tempera hues were amplified by the radiance of precious metal.
An evening of art, like a universal story suspended for a moment in Bucharest. A story of color, time, patience, refinement and light.
For us, this story is inseparable from our own artistic journey.
We began exploring precious metal leaf and gilding techniques out of curiosity and a desire to understand the material. Gradually, 24K Pure Gold leaf became one of the signatures of our art. In our works, a matte tempera surface meets the radiance of metal. Color comes to a halt; gold continues. The light shifts, and the artwork shifts with it.
Perhaps it was precisely this contrast that fascinated those who passed through the gallery: the fragility of gold leaf and the permanence of its symbolism; the delicacy of the gesture and the force of light; two sisters and an artistic universe built together.
For us, “ART-On-the-Rise” was about all these encounters. About art leaving the studio and finding its way somewhere unexpected. About people from different professional and cultural worlds pausing for a few moments before an artwork and becoming part of its story.
And about that rare moment when an exhibition becomes more than an exhibition – a place for encounter, conversation and discovery.
That evening, we welcomed people from around the world into a world we had envisioned.
A world in red, blue, violet, green and black.
A world of matte tempera and Pure Gold leaf.
A world in which, for a few moments, art was the one that opened the door to conversation.
