A celebration of the harvest, the Romanian land, and light.

There are moments when contemporary art does not observe nature from a distance, but enters into dialogue with it.

In the European imagination, the cornucopia – Cornucopia – is a symbol of fertility, abundance, and endless harvest. From it flow fruits, seeds, and nature’s gifts, in an image that speaks, beyond material prosperity, of continuity, gratitude, and hope.

“The Cornucopia” is a pop-up exhibition of Romanian contemporary abstract art, conceived as a celebration of one of the oldest and most powerful themes in human civilization: abundance, as a gift of the earth and an expression of life.

In this exhibition, the symbol is translated into the abstract language of color and precious metal leaf.

Red, intense and profound, evokes vital energy, ripened fruit, fertile soil, and the primal force of nature. Pure 24-karat gold introduces a dimension of light and value, transforming the painted surface into a space in which matter seems to acquire a glow of its own.

The encounter between pigment and Pure Gold leaf creates a contrast between the earthly and the celestial, between that which is born from the earth and that which reaches towards light. Painting thus becomes a metaphor for the balance between nature, humanity, and creation.

Presented as part of the Business Press Agricol Awards Gala 2024, the exhibition created a symbolic encounter between two worlds that, at first glance, may seem distinct: the world of agriculture and the world of art. In truth, both are rooted in the same fundamental ideas – earth, passion, transformation, energy, harvest, and responsibility.

Just as agriculture transforms seeds into nourishment and harvest into continuity, art transforms matter into meaning, color into emotion, and experience into memory.

The works Abundance (The Cornucopia), ARTE, 21, Life’s Paths, and Garden of Eve, created by Cristina & Magda Staicut, come together to form a visual territory where ancestral symbols meet contemporary sensibility.

In this space, gold becomes light, appreciation, and memory.

Red becomes life, energy, and becoming.

And the earth is not merely the place from which we are born and in which we cultivate. It is the origin itself.

“The Cornucopia” is, ultimately, a celebration of the gifts the earth offers us and of humanity’s ability to transform them into beauty, meaning, and culture.

An encounter between the harvest of the earth and the harvest of creation.
